Recently I have been introduced to a group of crafters. They meet together from time to time and share their respective passions: gardening, sewing, knitting, crotchet ……Most ladies are affiliated to U3A ( University of the Third Age) and various local church groups.
I was interested to learn that that one of the ladies was involved in knitting for the maternity unit at the Gwent Hospital and she had brought along some samples of her work - tiny ( and not so tiny) bonnets and an ‘all in one‘ baby jumper, knitted in a single piece to fit over a Baby Gro. She also introduced members of the group to ‘Angel Wings’ - these are knitted 'pockets' offered to families of stillborn babies.

The following day I received a parcel on my doorstep from Carol, the lady who hosted the group. She is an extremely talented lady with the most amazing flair for all things greenfingered and arty. In addition to her art work, she plays the organ and is a player in the Salvation Army band .
In addition to produce from her garden my parcel included a pattern for the aforementioned knitting projects. So I decided to have a go.
